Welcome to The Shelter, Inc

At The Shelter, Inc, we are dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for those experiencing homelessness in our community. Our shelter offers temporary housing, meals, and support services to help individuals and families get back on their feet and become self-sufficient. Services We Provide

Emergency Shelter

Emergency Shelter

Provide temporary emergency shelter while meeting their basic and essential needs.  This includes providing a warm bed, shower, food, and access to clean clothing.

Essentials Assistance

  • Obtaining Identification documents (state ID, Birth Cert, SS card)
  • Obtaining Medical Insurance
  • Inpatient/Outpatient Substance Abuse Rehab services
  • Mental Health needs (become client of Meridian or Centerstone)
  • Provided a cell phone for communication
  • Obtaining Income (Employment, SSI, Disability, etc.)
  • Obtaining Housing (permanent, transitional, etc.)


Long-Term Transitional Program

Intake

Assess the individual's current situation and past leading up to current homelessness. Determine what crucial steps need to be made and what items are needed. (i.e. identification documents, rehab, clothing, etc). Resident is explained the rules for Shelter and signs documents. If they are needing additional resources and assistance, they will sign a 30-day program agreement which guarantees them a bed.

Assessment

Resident coordinator/director will meet with resident individually to build a plan involving steps they must complete during the program. We provide them access to all services they require to be successful and assist as needed.  Residents are met with weekly to evaluate their progress.
